CBH Homes

Corey Barton

President, CBH Homes

What tips do you have, or what lessons have you learned, that would help others working to advance their careers?

Keep a scoreboard. In order to know how you’re doing you must track and keep score. Look at your numbers. What habits and actions push you to your goal? Find how to track those, then be consistent, daily, weekly, and monthly writing down how you did. Set time weekly and monthly to review your scoreboard. How did you do? Did you do what you said you were going to do? Track your performance so you know how to get better and improve.

What does your business do to ensure it retains relevance and sustainability long into the future?

Challenge the old ways. At CBH Homes, we’re constantly reviewing, adjusting, adapting and looking at how we do things so we can stay relevant. Whether it’s products, processes, or technologies we want to be on the forefront to try and test new things. We study industry leaders to see what we can learn and take to our own industry. In order for us to be able to adapt quickly, we’ve built a culture with our team around believing in growth and change. Without your team on board, you’ll be left behind.

What traits are important to you when hiring for, or promoting individuals within, your company?

Hungry and driven. We want people who want to do more and be more. They have to possess hunger and fire to push us to the next level.
